Planning and optimization of green infrastructures for stormwater management: The case of Tehran West Bus Terminal

Green Infrastructures as Best Management Practice (GI-BMP) play important role in preserving cities from urban flood and excessive runoff. In the process of using GI-BMP for stormwater management, a number steps are taken that normally include selection suitable sites, formulating proper combination infrastructures, optimization place design GI-BMPs to maximize their cost-effectiveness. This paper presents site-scale implementation Tehran West Bus Terminal (TWBT), Iran. To achieve this goal, study applies three framework namely suitability analysis, planning, optimization. first step, BMP Siting Tool, places allocating GI practices were identified. next practices, including permeable pavements, bioretention basin, infiltration trench, rain barrel planned arranged each subwatersheds area. third with use System Urban Stormwater Treatment Analysis Integration (SUSTAIN) model NSGA-II algorithm, sizes types optimized subwatershed. The results indicate runoff problem caused by surface area was serious needed be controlled. also revealed there 104 near-optimal solutions help reduce volume up 70%. According results, applying TWBT will 60% flow site price 353,568$. research is practical importance management nature-based bus terminals.
